aerial package delivery becomes reality with dji flycart 30 cargo drone

Last year, our City Hall did some tests on aerial medical transportation between two hospitals. The cargo drone they used was custom-made and did not look good or professional like the DJI FlyCart 30. The proof of concept was somehow successful, except the drone needed to emergency land two times due to poor weather conditions. Instead, the DJI FlyCart 30 promises to operate in extreme conditions, such as low temperatures (-20 ° C), snow, rain, or strong wind.

DJI FlyCart 30 supports two payload configurations, “Cargo” and “Winch” modes, to meet varying delivery tasks. The FlyCart 30 is compatible with the DJI DeliveryHub platform to allow fully autonomous flight modes.

Operating aerial delivery drones over populated cities with nearby airports and helipads is difficult. It requires precise flight plans and schedules approved by the local and aeronautical authorities. A cargo drone like the FlyCart30 with a payload of 30kg can produce serious damage if it crashes on a residential building or, even worse if it collides with a medical helicopter flying at a low altitude, preparing to land on the roof of a hospital.

DJI’s FlyCart 30 delivery drone comes with safety in mind. It adopts an eight-rotor design and a dual-battery system, and it has an onboard parachute for last resort.

To ensure reliable transmission between the pilot (operator) and drone, the FlyCart30 uses DJI’s latest OcuSync 3 digital communication system with a range of up to 20km. To extend the coverage or fly over challenging terrains, it also uses mobile 4G communication (a SIM card is required).

The FlyCart30 adopts a foldable design, with collapsed arms measuring 1115x760x1027 mm and weighing 42.5 kg (without battery) or 65 kg with two DB2000 batteries. The admitted max take-off weight is 95kg!
