Evolve Dynamics – Support Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Evolve Dynamics as a full-time Field Support Engineer , based at our workshop near Farnham, Surrey.
Evolve Dynamics is at the forefront of research, design and development of next generation UAS/UAV systems for the industrial, security & defence sectors.
Our mission is to develop autonomous/semi-autonomous, highly capable, and best in class UAV solutions.
We design and manufacture aircraft, ground control systems, camera/additional payloads and software. Our client base has grown 500% in the last 12 months and includes police forces, the military, fire services and search & rescue teams.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can think creatively, independently identify areas for improvement, tackle potential barriers to progress and propose solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible, thorough and accountable with a sharp eye for detail.
Duties
1. Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- On-Site Troubleshooting: Provide on-site technical support to diagnose and resolve issues with systems, including hardware, software, and communication problems.
- Remote Assistance: Offer remote troubleshooting assistance to customers and field teams via phone, email, or video calls.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of technical issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference and continuous improvement.
2. System Maintenance and Upgrades
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential failures.
- Software Updates: Install and test firmware and software updates on systems to ensure they are running the latest versions.
- Hardware Upgrades: Assist in the installation and configuration of hardware upgrades to improve capabilities.
3. Customer Training and Support
- User Training: Provide comprehensive training to customers and end-users on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Systems.
- Customer Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer support, addressing inquiries and providing solutions to technical issues.
- Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from customers regarding their experience and use of UAV products to inform future development and improvements.
4. Field Testing and Validation
- Testing: Conduct field tests and flight demonstrations to validate the performance of Systems in various conditions and environments.
- Data Collection: Collect and analyse data from test flights to identify potential improvements and ensure compliance with performance standards.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on field test results, highlighting any issues, improvements, and recommendations for product development.
5. Collaboration and Communication
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product development, and quality assurance teams to relay field issues and contribute to the development of more robust Systems.
- Feedback Loop: Provide regular feedback to the R&D team on common issues and customer pain points to help shape product improvements and innovations.
- Documentation Sharing: Ensure all technical documentation, including user manuals, maintenance guides, and troubleshooting procedures, are up-to-date and accessible.
6. Compliance and Safety
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all UAV operations and maintenance activities comply with relevant aviation regulations and industry standards.
- Safety Protocols: Develop and enforce safety protocols for field operations, including pre-flight checks, emergency procedures, and risk assessments.
- Incident Reporting: Report any safety incidents or near-misses promptly and accurately, conducting thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in field support operations and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest advancements in UAV technology and industry trends, continuously improving technical knowledge and skills.
- Innovation Contribution: Actively contribute to innovation initiatives by providing insights from field experiences and suggesting enhancements to UAV products and services.

- Engineering knowledge and qualifications (Software / Electronic / Mechanical)
- Linux experience – cli
- Networking experience (e.g. IP, network architectures)
- Programming experience, understanding of programming practices (C++ ideally)
- Experience with high pressure/sensitive situations

This is a full time position, based in our workshop near Farnham, Surrey. Hours are 0900 to 1730 Monday to Friday.

Salary:
A very competitive salary will be paid for the position, dependent on experience.
