Father’s Day 2022 is not far away, set for Sunday, June 19. And if dad wants a drone, you’re in luck. This year, there are plenty of Father’s Day 2022 drone sales to be found.
I scoured the Internet for both drone deals, as well as what I consider to be drone-adjacent deals. Either accessories, or other tech products, that someone who already owns all the drones, would likely also be interested in. From there, I put together a Father’s Day 2022 gift guide. Not every product is on sale (after all, I had to sneak in the new DJI Mini 3 Pro that I’m in love with). But every product is well worth the cost, either its standard price or because the deal is worthwhile. And since every kid might be on a different budget for their dad, I broke this guide down by price.
Best Father’s Day 2022 gifts for drone pilots that cost less than $50
You don’t need to spend a ton of money on your drone dad to tell him you love him. These gifts cost less than $50 (and some are less than $10!):
Kasa Smart Plugs 2-pack: $16.99
This is the future! These voice-controlled plugs allow you to talk to your outlets to tell them to turn on or off your electronics. You can do it from literally anywhere, whether it’s sitting on the couch nearby, or remotely while on vacation. With scheduling, you can set your smart plug to automatically turn on and off, which could be useful in telling drones to initiate or end charging, or simply to have the lights on just as you’re pulling into the driveway.
Setup is easy, as long as you have at least a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection (which you likely do).

Especially if dad is a drone pilot already and has younger kids, this can be a fun way for him to share his passion with youngsters. The playing field of this board game comes in the shape of a drone, and the game itself comes with a real, flying drone. The game was actually a finalist in the 2021 Toy of The Year Awards.
And while it’s normally $23.94, it’s on sale now for just $19.50, so you’ll save about 20%.
Best Father’s Day 2022 gifts for drone pilots that cost less than $150
With a $150 Father’s Day 2022 budget, you have a little more wiggle room to gift dad an entry-level drone.
DJI OM 5: $129
Phew, the formally $159 DJI OM 5 now fits the gifts-under-$150 section thanks to this sale. The DJI OM 5 is a selfie stick made it wildly epic. While it’s palm-sized when folded, DJI OM 5 has a 215 mm built-in extension rod. And, it’s on sale now for $129, which is about a 20% discount.
Google Fiber Webpass: $70/month
If Dad is constantly uploading drone footage, or streaming FPV drone races, you’ll want to upgrade his Wi-Fi. I can’t recommend Google Fiber enough — as I’ve had no Wi-Fi fails since installing it. And no more cutting out in Zoom meetings!

The original of the DJI Mavic Mini Line is on big sale over at B&H Photo, coming in at $399 for the entire Fly More Combo kit, which gets you a bunch of add-ons for a relatively small extra price. Compared to the stock Mavic Mini, the Fly More Combo includes:

- two extra pairs of propellers

- a dozen extra spare screws for any on-site repairs

- 2-way charging hub
- 18W USB charger
- carry bag
This is an entry-level camera drone that shoots 2.7K video and offers 30 minutes of flight time per charge (though those two extra batteries with the combo mean 90 minutes of flying time combined). It weighs only 249 grams, which is great for casual pilots who don’t want to worry about registering or Remote ID rules given that the FAA currently only requires drones flying for hobby purposes to be registered and comply with the Remote ID requirements if they weigh 250 grams or more.

The best price on this is over at B&H Photo, where it’s going for $399. It’s also on Amazon for a slightly higher $408, though that might net out to be a better deal if you can pay with your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card as you get 5% back on all Amazon purchases (which would be about $20 in this case).
DJI Osmo Action 4K: $299 on B&H Photo
If Dad already has a drone, get him another sort of DJI camera — one that works underwater. Right now, the DJI Osmo Action 4K Camera with Power Kit is on sale for just $299, which is nearly $70 savings from its $367 price tag.
You won’t find the “Power Kit” version of DJI’s action camera anywhere else. If Dad is a DJI fanboy, then the DJI Osmo Action 4K might make the most sense as a non-drone camera gift. Drone Pilot Ground School’s Part 107 test prep course ($299)
Is dad looking for a side hustle? The Federal Aviation Administration requires that any commercial drone operator pass its Aeronautical Knowledge Test to earn a drone pilot’s license. To earn it, I recommend enrolling in a Part 107 online training course — my favorite being Drone Pilot Ground School (it’s what I used to pass the test on my first try). With the $299 course comes hours of video lectures, practices tests and a concise cram sheet. It has tri-directional obstacle sensing and can record 4K/60fps video — particularly impressive given the drone’s small size and low price point.

DJI Air 2S Fly More Combo Drone with Smart Controller ($1,499)
It’s rare to see the Smart Controller on sale in conjunction with the DJI Air 2S drone — so this deal may be worth jumping on. I’m fanatical about the Smart Controller, as it’s got a built-in 5.5″ display that can display a live stream from the Air 2S gimbal at 1080p60 resolution. Plus, it supports OcuSync 2.0 technology from up to 5 miles away, utilizing dual-band 2.4/5 GHz signals. It’s totally worth the upgrade.
As far as the drone it pairs with, in this case you’re getting the Air 2S, which is DJI’s best camera drone for someone who wants the highest quality camera including professional photographers like wedding photographers, but who doesn’t have the budget for the DJI Mavic 3. Camera specs include a 1/2″ CMOS Quad Bayer sensor mounted on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal that can capture up to 48 MP resolution.
This Father’s Day, it’s on sale at a $250 discount, down to just $1,499 (normally $1,749).
DJI Mavic 3: $2,049
While not a huge discount, the normally-$2,199 DJI Mavic 3 is on sale now for $2,049. Hey, that’s still $150 savings!
This is DJI’s best camera drone short of having an ultra-expensive enterprise rig, thanks to its 20MP wide-angle camera with 4/3″ CMOS from camera maker Hasselblad, as well as a 12MP telephoto with 1/2″ CMOS, 4K video, and 28x hybrid zoom.
