I asked ChatGPT to write me a song comparing the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro and the lyrics are hilarious

Want to compare the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro? I asked ChatGPT to do it for me. And not just in article form — no that’s what I do!

I write my own articles, and I don’t need ChatGPT to do that. But I wanted this particular DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro comparison in musical form. But since I’m definitely not a songwriter, I asked ChatGPT to fill that void.

The idea was all Hamilton’s (whom many of you know is the behind-the-scenes guy for pretty much everything on my site). We spend a lot of time talking about drones. So in a conversation we were having one day about the new AI-powered chatbot called ChatGPT, of course, things circled back to drones. We wanted to see exactly what it could do, which is why we wrote to ChatGPT exactly this: “Write me a song comparing the DJI Mavic Air and the DJI Mavic Pro.”

The DJI Mavic Pro (back) and the DJI Mavic Air (front).

The results of the ChatGPT song about the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro are not only hilarious, but they’re surprisingly comprehensive, (mostly) accurate and pretty relevant. The ChatGPT lyrics dig into the camera qualities and the price. It mentions ideal features on the Mavic Pro such as obstacle avoidance and long battery life. It knows that the Mavic Air is smaller and more nimble.

That said, the lyrics do have few inaccuracies. For example, as you’ll read, the lyrics say the Air is “half the price.” But at $799 at launch, it’s not exactly half, as the DJI Mavic Pro was $999 at launch. It was more expensive than the Air, but certainly not double the price.

Other than a few inaccuracies ChatGPT totally crushed it. So with that, here are the song lyrics ChatGPT wrote for me in comparing the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro:

Verse 1:
There’s a new drone in town, it’s called the Mavic Air
It’s small and sleek, with a camera that’s fair
It’s perfect for travel, it’s light as a feather
But the Mavic Pro, it’s still the game changer

Chorus:
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
Which one will you choose, to make your heart grow
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
One’s small and nimble, the other’s got more

Verse 2:
The Mavic Pro, it’s been around for a while
It’s got a 4K camera, and it can fly for a mile
It’s got obstacle avoidance, and a long battery life
But the Mavic Air, it’s half the price

Chorus:
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
Which one will you choose, to make your heart grow
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
One’s small and nimble, the other’s got more

Bridge:
They both have the DJI name, and they’re both great
But it’s up to you, to decide your fate
Will you go for the portability, or the power and range
Mavic Air or Mavic Pro, the choice is yours to make

Chorus:
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
Which one will you choose, to make your heart grow
Mavic Air, Mavic Pro
One’s small and nimble, the other’s got more

Outro:
So when you’re ready, to take to the skies
With a drone that’s steady, and camera that flies
Think about the Mavic Air, and think about the Pro
And choose the one that’s best, for the moments you’ll capture and store.

Lyrics by ChatGPT

What’s even more hilarious is that ChatGPT spit out a disclaimer, too. Here’s what it said:

Note: This is a fictional song and is not meant to be taken as a factual comparison between the two drones. The Mavic Air and the Mavic Pro are both quality drones, and the best one for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

But our journey with ChatGPT in comparing the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro wasn’t over yet. Hamilton had the idea to push ChatGPT a little harder, so he asked it, “Can you re-write verse 2 to be about the battery life?”

And ChatGPT delivered with a revised version of verse 2 that focuses on the battery life of the two drones:

The Mavic Pro, it’s been around for a while
It’s got a 4K camera and a battery that’ll last a mile
It’s got obstacle avoidance and a long-lasting power
But the Mavic Air, it’s battery will last for hours.

Unfortunately this verse really didn’t pass my test. The Mavic Pro can fly for 27 minutes in no wind or 24 minutes when hovering. Mavic Air’s Battery lasts about 20-21 minutes. Not only is the Air’s battery life less, but it’s certainly not hours. Someone needs to do an accuracy check on ChatGPT.

Despite the inaccuracies, I still find the service fascinating. And ChatGPT isn’t a one trick pony. I asked ChatGPT to execute the same exact task (“Write me a song comparing the DJI Mavic Air and the DJI Mavic Pro”) from my computer. Surprisingly, I got something entirely different.

Here’s the song ChatGPT delivered to me:

Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, which one should I go? Both are great, but let’s take a look, at what makes them different, you know.

Chorus:

Mavic Air, it’s compact and light, Perfect for travel, day or night. Mavic Pro, it’s got more power, For those who need to fly for hours and hours.

Verse 2:

Mavic Air, it’s got a 3-axis gimbal, To keep your shots steady and stable. Mavic Pro, it’s got a 4-axis gimbal, For even smoother footage, it can handle.

Chorus:

Mavic Air, it’s compact and light, Perfect for travel, day or night. Mavic Pro, it’s got more power, For those who need to fly for hours and hours.

Verse 3:

Mavic Air, it’s got a 4K camera, To capture stunning footage, like a drama. Mavic Pro, it’s got a 4K camera too, But with a larger sensor, for more detail in view.

Chorus:

Mavic Air, it’s compact and light, Perfect for travel, day or night. Mavic Pro, it’s got more power, For those who need to fly for hours and hours.

Outro:

So there you have it, Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, Each one’s got its own perks, that’s for sure. Choose the one that fits your needs, And take to the skies, with ease.

Why we choose to compare the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro on ChatGPT

Hamilton and I chose to compare the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro drones specifically because they’re somewhat old in DJI terms. For now, ChatGPT’s knowledge is still limited to 2021 data, so it wouldn’t know newer drones like the DJI Avata.

The DJI Mavic Pro came out all the way back in 2017, at the time serving as DJI’s first foldable drone. The Mavic Air came out in 2018 by taking the foldable style of the Mavic Pro but putting it in an even-smaller (and cheaper) size. And since then, both drones have undergone massive upgrades and been taken out of production in favor of spiffier models. DJI’s tech has progressed to now give us the Mavic 3 Pro and the Mavic Air 2S. There’s also the (by some metrics) even-more popular DJI Mini 3 Pro.

If you want to read my text comparison of the DJI Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro, which is admittedly not as entertaining as the ChatGPT lyrical version, check out my guide titled “DJI Mavic Air vs. Mavic Pro: which should I buy?” here.

For now, I don’t find ChatGPT to be accurate, so I’m not using it for my actual articles. But, I’m no songwriter. So if you folks ever ask for future drone reviews to come in song form, you know how they’ll be written. That’s ChatGPT.
