AMSTERDAM – The InterUSS Platform, a Linux Foundation organisation, is pleased to announce the formation of the InterUSS Platform Advisory Council, a voluntary consortium developed to share direct regulatory and standards inputs on the development of the InterUSS Platform’s open source tools, which currently includes automated testing and discovery & synchronisation services (DSS).

The Advisory Council will foster global consensus among key uncrewed aviation stakeholders, integrate feedback to shape InterUSS Platform tool development, inform the adoption of InterUSS Platform tools and policies, and participate in regular forums on technological roadmaps and advancements in partnership with the InterUSS Platform Technical Oversight Committee.

The founding members of the Advisory Council are the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Civil Aviation Authority for Israel, and the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority, with the US Federal Aviation Administration as a member-observer.

“This is a noteworthy milestone for the InterUSS Platform, recognizing the increasing implementation of open source interoperability tools and the essential input of both industry and state and global stakeholders. The Linux Foundation looks forward to continued collaboration with governments and standards bodies to ensure open source resources and open governance that foster technology development,” shared Chris Clark, InterUSS Platform Project Manager at the Linux Foundation.

“This is a unique opportunity for regulators, standards bodies, and open source tool development to work hand-in-hand,” said Amanda Boekholt, InterUSS Platform Outreach Committee Chair. “We thank our founding members for their leadership in interoperability for uncrewed aviation, and warmly welcome the feedback and direct communication with InterUSS Platform members to better serve the industry and open source community.”

The Advisory Council will play a vital role in fostering the alignment and accessibility of open source resources. Member participation facilitates advancements in communication, interoperability, and scalability within the UTM/U-space landscape.

The Advisory Council will formally commence duties during Amsterdam Drone Week, with one of the first areas of open source development focused on automated testing for strategic conflict detection.
