Marble develops cutting-edge UAV systems to gather real-time data about maritime environments with unprecedented speed and flexibility.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable engineer to develop our aircraft, sensor and ground equipment and participate in operational deployments.
This is an opportunity to shape the direction of advanced hardware in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary engineering team developing exciting and impactful technology.
What you’ll do
- Take ownership of large parts of the design, prototyping, flight testing and manufacturing of our unmanned aircraft and ground control system equipment.
- Work on all aspects of the system, including electronics, sensors, wireless transmission, and power electronics.
- Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision
- Lead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute test plans
- Build prototypes, analyse outcomes, transition successful projects into production
- Work directly with customers (e.g. coast guards, NGOs, etc.)
- Support demonstrations and deployment with customers as needed, including travel
Required skills
- Experience designing and prototyping RC planes / UAVs – hobby or other
- Comfortable working with uncertainty, under time pressure, with limited supervision and as part of a team.
- Capable of breaking down complex multivariate problems into simpler sub-component experiments
- Great at developing innovative solutions independently, even when working in a new field.
- Bachelors or Masters in a relevant field
Preferred skills
- Holding CAA Drone Flyer ID / PfCO / GVC / BMFA A or equivalent
- Experience with Mavlink, Arduplane, Pixhawk and associated sensors
- Wireless transmission system analysis and optimisation
- Experience prototyping embedded systems
- Comfortable with scientific coding (python or other)
- Startup experience
