ZEPHYR UAS: A Call for Action to Modernize Slovakia’s Drone Industry

stefan zephyr uas

At ZEPHYR UAS, we are clear that if we want to build Slovakia into a modern country that will not lag behind the developed countries, then we all have to put our hands to work. That environment simply does not build itself. Also for this reason, our company was a golden partner of the Drontex2024 conference and it was really worth it!

When choosing the topic of the presentation, we had a clear vision, which is to talk about problems that will help each and every Drontex presenter and move the industry forward.

The main idea of the entire presentation can be summed up in one sentence: In Slovakia, we need to move forward very quickly and start building quality pillars for the drone industry. Otherwise, what we do will not make sense…. Due to my previous work on the board of the Slovak ANSP, I know that it is possible to catch up with the train that is now escaping us very quickly! But we need to speed up. We need very flexible legislation that will meet the requirements of the highest possible level of safety of civil aviation, but at the same time will enable the creation of an innovative environment. We don’t just need laws, we have them and they are fine. We also need high-quality interpretation rules and very clear and effective rules for airspace, in the preparation of which every single stakeholder, including operators, will participate.

At the same time, we need to ensure fair access for all airspace users, including unmanned aircraft, to our airspace. And this will not work without a digital and automated system for the management of UAS operations. Without this key element, it just won’t work and won’t make sense. We will never be competitive…

The third and probably the most important thing we need is the will to change things effectively for the better future. As I stated at the beginning of this post, that environment does not build itself.

And now to the more pleasant things. Drontex2024 exceeded all my expectations. The numbers speak for themselves, more than 220 participants (which is 60 more than in the second year) at the Slovak drone conference is a perfect result. The entire professional program and evening networking were thought out to the last detail. It was just great.

Thank you for all the conversations, encouraging words and suggestions for cooperation! Thank you to our partners, thank you to everyone involved. Great things await us 🙂

A huge thank you goes to the organizer Mam Dron, and personally Rastislav Sopko and Vaclav Michalcik! It wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you for being a part of Drontex team!

We are looking forward to the next year!
