Backfire: A Ukrainian-Born Force Multiplier
Writing on Telegram, Mykhailo Fedorov, Digital Transformation Minister of Ukraine, has revealed a new fixed-wing platform designed in Ukraine – Backfire.
“The ‘bird’ has passed the commission of the Defense Ministry and is awaiting an operating permit. This means that the government will be able to officially purchase these drones. The team of developers is already preparing for the mass production of UAVs,”
The Backfire UAV, developed by Ukrainian engineers from the defense tech cluster Brave1, stands as a testament to the country’s technological prowess and its ability to adapt to the evolving demands of modern warfare. This attack drone has emerged as a key asset in the Ukrainian defense arsenal, offering a combination of range, precision, and resilience that has made it a formidable force against Russian troops.
With a maximum range of 35 kilometers, the Backfire can operate deep behind enemy lines, providing valuable intelligence on Russian troop movements, artillery positions, and logistics hubs.
